As we lift off from Las Vegas the southwest continues to captivate me. As I look out far below from my window-seat perch, I can see the red canyons and the clear rivers that I had been hiking through just a few hours ago. And all I can say is “WOW!”
WOW! I am so lucky to have been here.
WOW! Look at the Power of God to sculpt a surreal majestic landscape out of all
things…ugly hot dusty sand and rock. Now that is creativity and imagination!
WOW! How perfect, from the smallest cacti to the largest canyon.
WOW! Has the sky ever been SO blue.
WOW! I love my husband for insisting we come.
WOW! Water and other forces did this over an incomprehensible amount of time.
WOW! My time here is so short and so precious
WOW! I am Blessed
JUST WOW!
Nothing has enriched my life more than the practice to stop and say “WOW!”
As Anne Lamott says,
“There are only three essential prayers;
Help, Thanks and Wow.”
Not just on vacations or in new incredible places, but every day to stop and notice with wonder and amazement.
Try it. Right now where ever you are. Yes, right this second.
Ask yourself…
What is perfect right now?
Maybe you are waiting for a doctor’s appointment and it is the beauty of baby sitting on his mother’s lap across the room.
Maybe you are in your cubicle at work and reading this as you avoid your 2:30 deadline. And it is this magic box, called a computer, that can show you the world in seconds.
Or maybe your life is pretty crappy right now and the only thing that seems perfect is the love you have for your family or your pets or the tree outside your window.
Maybe it is just that your heart or someone’s heart you love is still beating.
There is always a WOW! Find it. It matters.
It will make all the difference.
With Zeal,
Christy
